PENS WIN 4-2
Recap After the Jump...
I was pretty nervous waking up today. Wasn't expecting the world to be here, due to the fact that Pascal Dupuis had two goals last night. Crazy stuff....A lot has to be said about the work of Dan Bylsma this year. Who would have thought when Malkin went down for the year, already with Crosby on the shelf, that the Pens would be one point out of the division lead with two games left?
Speaking of Bylsma if he wins the Jack Adams Trophy for Coach of The Year, the Pens organization would have the NHL and AHL coaches of the year as John Hynes won AHL Coach of The Year today.
Last night New Jersey on "shirt off our backs night"...
Staal came down the left wing late in the 1st. Hedberg came out with a slide which worked for him so many times in his stint with the Pens...this time...no dice...Staal shuffles it over him to make it 1-0.
Late in the 2nd David Steckel, aka public enemy #1 puts it past Fleury. 1-1.
dick.
Dupuis answers back though less than two minutes later by scoring a goal on a garbage rebound to make it 2-1 Pens. His 15th of the season.
To start the 3rd Kennedy gets the puck in the slot and slides it to Kunitz who goes back hand to make it 3-1. Pretty goal. Tyler Kennedy's first pass in the offensive zone of his entire career. Kunitz with his 23rd of the year. Can only imagine how many he could have had this year with Crosby playing a full year.
60-year old Brian Rolston made it 3-2 on a slap shot from the slot. Fleury didn't see it had no chance.
Late in the game the Devils pull Hedberg, Dupuis gets the puck though. Herberg makes a last ditch effort to get back to the net in time but hes too late. Weird goal. Doesn't count as an empty netter. Dupuis with his 2nd of the game and 16th of the year.
After the game the Pens held their annual "shirts off our backs".....
Oh man.
